If you're thinking of starting a blog for your nonprofit, here's a bit of caution from the What's Next Blog: Top 10 Reasons Your Company Shouldn't Blog, Redux.
- Your blog will be about what you want to tell people rather than what people want to know.
- Your blog will have a corporate voice.
- Your content won't be original.
- You don't have time to blog.
- You don't have time to read a few hours a day.
- The purpose of the blog is to drive sales.
- Your blog is not a substitute for advertising.
- You expect the blog to produce results and build a loyal following quickly.
- You think the blog will be a cheap marketing tool.
- You think that if you write it, people will read it.
If your blog is not described above, there's a good chance it's going to be a good tool for you.
